About the Business
My interest in acupuncture started in 1998 when I suffered a spinal injury and tried acupuncture for pain relief. After 3 years full time study I received my Licentiate in Acupuncture from The College of Traditional Acupuncture in Leamington Spa and a B.A.(Hons) in Acupuncture from Oxford Brookes University. My initial training was in 5 Element Acupuncture, often considered "classical" which I followed up with 2.5 years post graduate study of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at The College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading.
I have been in private practice since 2001 and at the same time I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to set up an acupuncture clinic at St. Gemma's Hospice, Leeds and gained valuable experience working alongside conventional medical practitioners for several years.

Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine
Acupuncture works to help maintain your body’s equilibrium. It involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body to regulate the flow of ‘qi’, your body’s vital energy. For a number of lifestyle and environmental reasons, qi can become disturbed, depleted or blocked, which can result in symptoms of pain and illness. In certain instances, traditional acupuncture can be an effective therapy to help restore balance and promote physical and emotional harmony.
