About the Business
My interest in acupuncture began following my daughter’s successful treatment for hay fever and asthma with acupuncture when she was young. In spite of trying medication, during the hayfever season, she was unable to spend more than half-an-hour outside before her eyes would become swollen and she started wheezing. Following a recommendation from a friend, I decided acupuncture was worth a try. I was initially sceptical about how acupuncture could help, however, following a course of treatment, my daughter’s condition had improved considerably.
I then used acupuncture to help with feelings of stress during a particularly difficult period in my life. After each treatment I felt more supported, relaxed and able to cope.
So began my fascination with this ancient system of medicine which has taken me from patient to practitioner. Deciding to pursue a career in acupuncture I trained for three years at the College of Traditional Acupuncture in Warwick, where I received a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Traditional Acupuncture.

Your Treatment
The Initial Consultation and Treatment:
The initial consultation and first treatment will take around 90 minutes. During this time, I will ask you questions about your current symptoms, medical history, diet, digestive system, sleeping patterns and emotional state. I will then take your blood pressure, your pulses on both wrists, do a tongue diagnosis and then palpate for areas of muscular tension. From this information I will then put together a personalised treatment plan which may include advice on diet and lifestyle choices.
Follow-up Appointments:
Follow-up appointments generally last for 45 -60 minutes. At the start of each appointment I will ask you for feedback on how you have been feeling since the previous treatment. Your feedback is important as it helps me to plan treatments suited to your needs.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
This really does depend on each individual’s response to acupuncture and the severity and duration of the complaint. Some people will feel the benefits within one or two sessions, others may take a little longer. As a general guide, however, I like to see patients on a weekly basis for the first 5-6 treatments, and then re-assess the condition. Follow-up appointments will be arranged as necessary. The eventual aim is to have maintenance treatments perhaps four or five times a year to ensure continued balance and harmony.
