What is Acupuncture?

Within the Westoe Practice, the Acupuncturist uses the ancient technique of healing which involves inserting fine needles into key points situated along specific energy pathways (meridians) all over the body to encourage natural healing, reduce or relieve pain and improve functioning of the body.

Based on the principles of Traditional Chinese medicine, Acupuncture has been practiced in China and other Eastern countries for over 2000 years.

The Acupuncturist at the Westoe Practice will use needles which are disposable and very fine. The patient will sometimes feel a slight tingling sensation when the needles are inserted. Various methods of manipulating needles are used which can create subtle sensations.

A typical Acupuncture treatment at the Westoe Practice will take approximately 45 mins, starting with a detailed case history to help us fully understand your concerns, and an overall assessment of the body to identify the underlying problems and treatment required.
